Fourth of July Table Runner

This week's video tutorial features an easy beginner quilting project with a Fourth of July theme.  

It's really simple but it's a great way for some of you beginners to try your hand at an actual quilt top without being overwhelmed trying to make a queen size bed quilt!

It was a lot of fun to design and create so I hope you will have fun making one of these for your house or to give as a hostess gift at your next Fourth of July picnic party.  I know Independence day is only one week away but this quilt top can be whipped up in a few hours so I encourage you to try it out.

Meanwhile... I'm working on a million other things at once and have not yet made Baby #2 a thing and she is due to arrive in September! I have a lot of work to do this summer... not to mention we are still looking for our farm house to buy.

How to Make a Shopping Cart Cover for Babies and Toddlers

My tutorial doesn't require you to buy any pattern and just about anyone can make one.  There are definitely a ton of other ways to make these including using cotton fabrics, batting, bias tape binding, etc.  I tried to keep it simple with the use of fleece especially for beginners because you don't even have to sew around the cut edges (like I do in the video) because fleece doesn't fray.  There are also different ways of adding the elastic, etc.  So, this is just one version to make the shopping cart cover.

Crafty Gemini mini-me?!

Today I thought I would post a video that definitely made my week!  One of my friends loves to cook, bake and do all kinds of crafts with her kids and apparently they enjoy watching my video tutorials, too.   

So, the other day her 4-year old daughter, Elliana, sneaks away to her room with some fabric.  Her mom goes to check on her 5 minutes later because she was awfully quiet and it turns out she was working on my latest tutorial- How To Make Picnic Placemats for Summer! Too cute!

She then asks her mom to video her teaching how to do it just like I do.  I love it!  My own Crafty Gemini mini-me!  She even tries to mimic what I say in my tutorials!  You all have to see this! Isn't she just the cutest?!

She definitely has a future on YouTube!

My birthday and new video!

Today is my 28th birthday! WOW!  I can hardly believe how time flies when you start having kids.  It's like I blinked and the past 3 years have just zoomed past me!  When I stop and reflect on all I have accomplished in 28 short years I am proud to say I am very happy with where I am in my life right now. 

I have an amazing husband who supports everything I do and is constantly encouraging me to challenge myself and take on new endeavors.  I have an intelligent, gorgeous and healthy baby boy who makes us laugh hysterically every single day!  I'm growing a little princess in my belly and we are anxious to meet her in a few short months..... and my business is on the right track!

All in all I am a very happy camper!

So, as I leave to the playground with my son to enjoy my day today I leave you with a new video tutorial.  This one was the collaborative video we filmed in NYC as part of the YouTube Creator Camp I attended.  

Watch me teach 3 guys (also NextUp winners- Jimmy, Bryan, and Zach) how to sew a picnic place mat!! It's great to see them being such great sports about it.... and they all did great!
